After more than eight years of existence, the Black Cog Visual Effects studio evolves to give birth to Black Cog Entertainment.
Passionate about video games, we are convinced that this medium has brought some of the most important artistic works of recent decades.
Against the current of an industrial vision of game production that has reached its limits, we assume a creation on a human scale, connected to a real community and carrying a true requirement, both in terms of visual and narrative content as well as the gaming experience.
Our goal is to propose a different, exciting work that corresponds to the game we would like to play.
The studio’s management constitutes the operational core of the team and has been responsible for the production of the project on a daily basis for several years. To date, all the assets and elements of the technical and artistic game have been designed within Black Cog, without subcontracting.
Our vision of creation is also driven by an environmental commitment and a choice of sobriety. Contemporary digital "industrial" creation is done at a cost, that of an ever greater consumption of hardware, computing power, electrical consumption, remote resources such as clouds, servers etc... We consider that the dematerialized whole is not a solution and leads to an inflation of consumption which is masked by the "cloud". Thanks to our expertise of more than 15 years in cinema and audiovisual, we can create differently giant studios and get out of the logic of permanent outsourcing.
Moreover, we consider that the gigantic budgets associated with these manufacturing methods are incompatible with our environmental convictions and out of step with the reality of the challenges that our societies will face in the future. We are convinced that controlled development costs are a key to better designed, more honest and better developed games.
We also believe that games should be accessible to as many players as possible. Thus game optimization, which has been an aspect sometimes neglected in recent years, is an essential element for us. Our game is developed on representative machines of the average PC gamer configuration and is designed to offer a breathtaking experience on so-called mid-range cards.
